"The little brother of Château Mangot stands out for its explosive fruitiness!"
"This wine has a certain frankness, with explosive, straightforward, clean fruit. The palate is very sapid, with nice tannins marked by a pleasant rusticity. It's a wine that's confident in its own skin, expressing its origins with juiciness, bloodiness, and thirst-quenching qualities, signed by beautiful bitter notes on the finish. (Terre de Vins 2022) - Produced by the Todeschini brothers, this is a domaine to watch in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOC!

About wine:
This intense red, with beautiful fruity nuances, offers good volume, presence, and complexity. It is a lovely, fruity wine, very fresh, well-made, with good length, which will be a pleasure to enjoy with meat in sauce or roast. 2023-2028
About the estate:
The vineyards founded in 1951 by Jean Petit comprise 37 hectares of contiguous land in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, on a terroir rich in asteriated limestone (Mangot, an ancient vineyard mentioned as early as 1510), and 16 hectares in Castillon (La Brande), managed since 1989 by Jean-Guy and Anne-Marie Todeschini, joined in 2008 by their sons Karl and Yann. The vineyard has been certified organic since the 2020 vintage and is currently converting to biodynamic farming.

About wine:
Among the best wines from the Right Bank for less than €25: Discreeton opening, this 2019 reveals its full potential after a few minutes in the glass. A beautiful wine, full-bodied, sappy and carried by a fine, mouthwatering tannic finish. Serve during a winter dinner party.
About the estate:
This is the historic estate of the Todeschini family, who also own Château Mangot, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé located a few kilometers away. Brothers Karl and Yann are contributing to the current revival of the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, a delightful vineyard of intertwined hills and plateaus, marked by varied exposures and dotted with ponds and groves. The 16 hectares cultivated biodynamically produce concentrated wines, structured by frank tannins but above all by the mouth-watering force so characteristic of the region's clay-limestone soils. Bravo Castillon! Bravo Todeschini!

The nose is fruity, racy, and offers a lovely freshness, a nice texture, and a certain depth. There are notes of bright wild blackcurrant, juicy blackberry and, more subtly, violet, combined with hints of bright red berries and touches of crushed Bigarreau cherry, licorice, a discreet hint of coffee and a subtle hint of mandarin/zest. The palate is fruity, balanced, racy and offers a lovely acidity, smoothness, sapidity and good definition. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/tart blackcurrant, bright raspberry and, more subtly, bright blueberry, combined with hints of small black berries, blueberry, fresh violet and a subtle hint of licorice, zan, spices, a very subtle hint of iris, pepper and toast. The tannins are precise and well-balanced. Good length. A well-balanced wine offering lovely fruit generosity!

Favorite this beautiful, elegant Castillon, full of finesse from an excellent 2019 vintage that is as expressive as it is energetic. It seduces with its perfectly smooth palate, which develops remarkable complexity and great volume. The abundant juiciness, nicely tart with intense, radiant fruit (cherry, black plum, blueberry, raspberry), is combined with subtle spices and notes of coffee. With a fine, powdery texture, the tender tannins glide towards a savory, lingering finish, whose flavor is accentuated by subtle earthy and cocoa notes. This well-crafted Castillon promises much enjoyment. Accessible and harmonious, La Brande is ready to accompany a fine meal of Limousine beef chateaubriand with green pepper sauce and gratin dauphinois. Rating = 4.2.
