About the wine:

This 30-hectare estate is situated around the Montforts’ other property and has been in the current owner’s family since 1602: the feudal castle of Monbadon, built in the 14th century by Edward III, King of England. The Merlot (70%) and Cabernet, grown using organic farming methods (currently in transition), have produced this 2010 vintage, which is initially reserved and reveals notes of blackcurrant after swirling. Full-bodied and long on the palate, it reveals a soft, generous texture that envelops powerful yet supple tannins. In two or three years, this characterful wine will pair well with game in sauce.

A classic example of the shortcomings of the 2010 Bordeaux wines, which are heavy on ripe Merlot and have far too much alcohol relative to their tannic structure.
