Wine rated (2018 guide) 16,5/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

A subtle and complex nose, with fruity, floral, and mineral notes; full-bodied, straightforward, and harmonious on the palate, with lovely ripe tannins and very persistent aromas, supported by a lovely freshness. Refined and full of potential.

About the estate:

Marie-Hélène Léonard and Gilles Marsaudon, a former interior designer, settled in the Bourque region in 2002. For several vintages, these new winemakers experimented with extraction to find their style; now, the path seems clear toward a winemaking approach focused on fruit and refinement. All their efforts and funds are devoted to improving the vineyards and technical facilities. The investments are substantial, but the results speak for themselves. The La-Part-des-Fées cuvée, as well as Villa-Jeanne—an entry-level wine that is nonetheless barrel-aged—are at the pinnacle of charm, refinement, and balance. A property to watch closely.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2017) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

A regular feature in the Guide, the La Part des fées cuvée is produced from clay-limestone soil and aged for twelve months in oak barrels. Its color remains intense and youthful. While marked by its aging, the bouquet nevertheless reveals a pleasant fruity profile, with black berries standing out. Fruity on the attack, concentrated and persistent, the palate displays great power, softened by a silky texture. The tannins, still a bit tight on the finish, will allow this wine to age well. A wine with presence.

About the estate:

This estate in the Côtes-de-Bourg region takes its name from Sulpicius de Monteberiot, a 14th-century monk who founded the village of Mombrier. It was named by Gilles and Marie-Hélène Marsaudon—a former event decorator and a former wine sales representative who switched careers to become winemakers—who acquired this 7.3-hectare vineyard in 2003.
