Château La Mothe du Barry
Château La Mothe du Barry, located in Moulon, is managed by Joël Duffau, who also owns Château Les Arromans. This passionate and talented winemaker is dedicated to producing wines of the highest quality.
The vineyards of Château La Mothe du Barry are primarily situated on the magnificent clay-limestone slopes of the town, a prime terroir for Merlot. From his studies and internships in various wine-growing regions in France and abroad (Burgundy, Beaujolais, La Rioja, California), Joël Duffau has retained an openness to others, an insatiable desire for discovery, and a constant willingness to question the status quo.
Vintage after vintage, he has refined vineyard management and winemaking techniques to produce wines of great character that have built his reputation, such as the Cuvée Le Barry, featured annually in numerous guides.
The other cuvées from Château La Mothe du Barry are equally renowned for their high quality, such as its Entre-Deux-Mers, sourced from vineyards in the communes of Naujean and Postiac, a terroir of boulbène predestined for white wines. It was out of a passion for this terroir so typical of the Entre-Deux-Mers, and a desire to return to more authentic values, that Joël Duffau began the transition to organic farming.
