“Very deep black cherry. Sweet fruit, with just a hint of malt. A fine, dry, mineral texture—more mineral than dry. Once again, lively freshness and a truly juicy finish, but there’s also a firmer tannic structure supporting the fruit.” (Jancis Robinson 2013)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2013 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
Generous and full-bodied, with firm, well-integrated tannins, intense black fruit, and a compact finish.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2016) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
While lacking the intensity of the previous vintage— Favorite —this wine charms with its complex bouquet, blending dark fruits with toasty oak, and its round, well-structured palate, featuring a toasty, licorice-tinged finish that reflects expert barrel aging. It will be best enjoyed younger than its predecessor.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Rated estate (2012 guide): 3 stars (Very high-quality production)
About the estate:
“La Prade is located in one of Bordeaux’s smallest appellations, occupying the highest slopes of the Gironde. It has been owned by the Thienpont family (Vieux Château Certan, in Pomerol) since 2000. Nicolas Thienpont, who currently cultivates some 6 hectares dominated by Merlot, seeks to preserve the fruit and aims for richness in his wines; aging, as well as malolactic fermentation, generally takes place in new barrels for 50% to 60% of the vineyard.”

An excellent wine, full of finesse, with a clean attack that’s never harsh, smooth and velvety while remaining fruit-forward, and a lovely, long finish with subtle oak notes
