“This vintage exudes class and distinction, with a maturation process that preserves the fruit and freshness. The full range of fruit flavors—blueberry and blackberry—shines through, accompanied by crisp tannins and a hint of boxwood.” (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2012 - Gault Millau)

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2012 guide) 15,5/20 (Very good)
Rated estate (2012 guide): 3 stars (Very high quality production)
About the wine:
This vintage exudes class and distinction, with a maturation process that preserves the fruit and freshness. The full range of fruit flavors—blueberry and blackberry—shines through, accompanied by crisp tannins and a hint of boxwood.
About the estate:
“La Prade is located in one of Bordeaux’s smallest appellations, occupying the highest slopes of the Gironde region. It has been owned by the Thienpont family (Vieux Château Certan, in Pomerol) since 2000. Nicolas Thienpont, who currently cultivates some 6 hectares dominated by Merlot, seeks to preserve the fruit and aims for richness in his wines; aging, as well as malolactic fermentation, generally takes place in new barrels for 50% to 60% of the vineyard.”
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2012 guide) 17,5/20 (Great wine)
About the wine:
This estate has been owned by Nicolas Thienpont since 2000. Merlot reigns supreme here, making up 90% of the blend for this 2008 vintage, with Cabernet Franc rounding it out. The result? A deep red wine with a nose of red fruits and spices, blended with a still-prominent oakiness. The palate offers a lovely texture, supported by high-quality tannins. Best enjoyed in two or three years with a veal sauté with carrots.

A wine that deserves a zero! It has nothing but a faint hint of candied plum, and then nothing else.
