"A wine made from equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The promise of an intense color is followed by a delicate bouquet, somewhere between oak aging and very ripe red fruits. The fruits take on candied accents in a full-bodied and powerful palate, which requires a little time to refine." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2015)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2015 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About wine:
Very exuberant and ripe nose, richly fruity, very eucalyptus and truffle-like, with floral notes. Full-bodied on the palate, very aromatic, with tight tannins and freshness. Good length, good potential.
About the estate:
In 1872, Franciscan sisters founded the Providence orphanage at Château Crabitey. The vineyard was the community's main source of income. In 1985, they called on Jean-Ralph de Butler, an agricultural engineer, who perfected the estate. Today, his son Arnaud is continuing his father's work and remains the sole owner, as the sisters withdrew from Crabitey in 2008. This vineyard is one of the most carefully tended in the Portets area and certainly the one that produces the most balanced wines. Here we are at the heart of classic Bordeaux taste.

Rated estate (2017 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About wine:
A wine made from equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its intense color is matched by a delicate bouquet, combining notes of aging and very ripe red fruits. The fruits take on candied accents in a full-bodied and powerful palate, which requires a little time to refine.
About the estate:
Former orphanage and vineyard established in 1872 by Franciscan nuns on the Portets plateau. In 1985, the order called on Jean-Ralph de Butler, an agricultural engineer, to modernize the estate, and eventually sold it to him in 2008. Arnaud de Butler took over in 1999. The vineyard covers 28 hectares of Garonne gravel.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated 14/20 (Good)
About wine:
An intense fruitiness of black berries, tinged with woody notes, leather, and tobacco, with a straightforward and firm palate, and a fresh, long finish with particularly fine tannins. A classic, harmonious, and pleasant wine.

Wine rated (2014 guide) 87/100 (Very good wine)
Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
Without being familiar with this property, this 2011 vintage ranks highly in tastings. Produced in a refined and fruity style, it offers notes of tobacco, black cherry, plum, and soy. It has a deep ruby color, medium body, no harshness, and a full-bodied palate. Although not very complex, it is a notable Graves to be enjoyed over the next 7 to 8 years.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
At the head of 28 hectares of vines, a large part of which are located on one of the most beautiful gravelly hilltops in Portets, Arnaud de Butler has, in the space of fifteen years, made this Graves wine one of the benchmarks of the appellation. In 2008, he embarked on a vast program to restructure the vineyard, favoring Cabernet Sauvignon on the finest hilltops of his property. This was a wise choice, as demonstrated by the importance of this grape variety in the quality of the latest blends (particularly in 2014, which will be available later this year). His wines have become much more full-bodied and assertive over the last 10 years. Gaining in mellowness and fruit expression, the wines have also made enormous progress in terms of elegance, both in white and red. Often full-bodied, the reds are never better than in their first three or four years in the bottle and over ten years in the most concentrated vintages.
