"The 2013 red is a fine success and exhibits a level of concentration above the year's average. While the tannins are still prominent, the wine has good body. This wine will age gracefully for a good five years. " (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2017 - RVF)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the wine:
A highly elegant nose, with notes of blackberry jam, mild spices, cocoa, and smoky oak; the palate is full-bodied, with plenty of fruit, firm, well-defined tannins, good structure, and a long finish.
About the estate:
This estate belongs to the Médeville family, well known for its famous Château Gilette Sauternes. The estate produces a fine red Graves wine, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, from 8 hectares, and a very elegant white Graves wine—of recognized and consistent quality—from half that area.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
The 2013 red is a fine success and exhibits a level of concentration above the year’s average. While the tannins are still prominent, the wine has good body. This wine will age gracefully for a good five years.
About the estate:
The château, owned by the Médeville family since the 1980s (which also owns the Gilette and Les Justices châteaux in Sauternes, the Château des Eyrins in Margaux, and the Gonet-Médeville champagnes), is located in Preignac, in the southern Graves region, very close to Langon and the Sauternes area, and is impeccably maintained. Thanks to a balanced blend of grape varieties, the wines express the complementary qualities of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (slightly predominant) in the reds, and Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and a small amount of Muscadelle (up to 5% in the blend depending on the vintage) in the whites. The latter reveals the true style of wines from the southern Graves region: unpretentious, with notes of citrus peel and a light, unburdening palate, following a short three-month barrel aging. The reds have improved significantly thanks to winemaking consultant Olivier Dauga. Julie and Xavier Gonet skillfully manage this estate, which maintains an excellent standard and consistent quality in its production.
