"Incredible value for the price! It's almost too good to be true—you should snap it up right away..."

"Classified as an 'exceptionnel cru bourgeois' in 2020 and recently renamed, this estate produces wines of impressive quality, with a depth, character, and refinement that make them a top choice. I’ve selected a 5-year-old vintage because Haut-Médoc wines, often rich in tannins and concentrated fruit, require a few years of aging to soften. Aromas of black fruit, tobacco, and spicy cedar unfold slowly and linger for a long time, offering excellent length and a juicy, flavorful finish. There is also a high proportion of Petit Verdot (10 to 20% in most vintages), which adds color and a hint of pepper on the finish.” (Decanter 2021)

The 2016 vintage confirms its promising qualities. It is robust and well-structured, with a juicy mid-palate and well-integrated tannins. A solid wine, yet already approachable, that reveals itself with depth. It’s ready to drink now, but there’s no need to rush.

About the wine:

With its aroma and subtle richness, it tastes like a very good Margaux. This should come as no surprise, since the Belle-Vue vineyards are located immediately south of that appellation. Long and elegant finish. A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 20% Petit Verdot. Ready to drink now or for aging.

Everything I love about Bordeaux. A really nice wine, with delicate flavors and a touch of class. You do need to open it well in advance, though.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on November 1, 2022

An Exceptional Cru Bourgeois from the 2016 vintage—which is just as exceptional! On the palate, a beautiful creaminess is immersed in the juice of intense black fruits at peak ripeness and subtle spices, supported by a broad, full-bodied structure that conveys a sense of density and depth, leading to a remarkably persistent finish, enveloped by both subtle oak and delicate notes of humus. The wine as a whole reflects remarkably well-executed aging with refined yet thorough extraction. It is a model of its kind, offering great harmony between power and elegance, with that touch of Petit Verdot adding a pleasant hint of freshness. Now at its ideal drinking window, this exceptional Haut-Médoc, after 1 hour of aeration, paired wonderfully at 19° with a delicious free-range rooster braised in wine, served with steamed potatoes and parsley. Rating = 4.6.
