"This fully matured star of the Médoc delivers a magnificent performance: dense, lively, and lingering!"

“Ruby red with purple highlights. A truly beautiful, intense, and complex bouquet. Notes of black tea, malt, and blond tobacco. Upon aeration, I detect spicy notes and black fruits with a candied quality. The attack is silky, fruity, and slightly sweet. The wine has body and character, thanks to a structure that lends freshness and powerful tannins. They are perfectly integrated and ensure a promising future. An exceptional wine that needs time to unfold and possesses great density. We’re not far from 95 points… one to watch closely.” (Yves Beck 2016) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and selected shipping method)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Like its neighbors in the Ludon-Macau sector, Cantemerle suffered from the inclement weather of 2017 and 2018, which temporarily halted its magnificent improvement in quality. All the more reason to trust the vintages from previous years, which showcase the full finesse of which this vast 90-hectare terroir is capable. Prices remain affordable, and the 2019 vintage is in fine form. The arrival of a new director, Laure Canu, marks the beginning of a new chapter for the estate.

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2018 guide) 2** stars (Outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

Four grape varieties make up the blend of this 2014: 56% Cabernet (primarily Cabernet Sauvignon), 38% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot. Right away, the vibrant, deep color catches the eye. Expressive, harmonious, and subtle, the bouquet blends the aromas of a variety of ripe red and black fruits with elegant, vanilla-like, and toasty oak notes, nuanced by a hint of leather. Supported by this substantial oak presence, the palate offers a structure with beautiful aromatic and flavor precision, and a finish that lingers pleasantly.

About the estate:

Intense and complex, with lovely notes of red fruit and vanilla, the bouquet is as elegant as the ruby color. Frank and supple on the attack, the palate then builds in intensity to reveal an imposing, full-bodied structure, supported by fine, velvety tannins and skillfully balanced oak.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Philippe Dambrine has just handed over the reins to Laure Canu at the helm of this classic Médoc estate. While Cantemerle has always produced elegant, easy-drinking wines, those crafted over the past decade or so offer added depth and definition, clearly positioning it as one of the best values in the entire Médoc. The work in the vineyard and the winemaking and blending decisions made in recent years are paying off. Now is the time to enjoy these wines, especially since their aging potential is remarkable, as we’ve often seen.

About the wine:

Barrel sample. Although the wine is very dry, it also has a creamy undertone of blackcurrant that hints at a promising future. With lovely acidity that lends it freshness, this wine will age well. — Roger Voss

About the wine:

A wine of remarkable precision, persistence, and class, the 2014 Cantemerle is exceptional. Sweet tobacco, licorice, red cherry, and dried aromatic herbs are just a few of its characteristics. Medium-bodied and lively, this 2014 captures the best attributes of the vintage. It is an absolutely exceptional wine. 2020–2035
