About the estate:
La Lagune has not been rewarded by the weather in recent vintages for its commitment to organic viticulture. Under the guidance of its director, Caroline Frey, the wine has improved significantly in recent years, with blends featuring a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and more elegant tannin extraction. It just keeps getting better.

About the wine:
Magnificent aromas: bright red fruits and rose petals. Tannic and a bit closed at the moment, with notes of black licorice. Quite tight and firm; I appreciate the freshness and purity of its bright blueberry notes, but the structure dominates for now and the wine still lacks a bit of openness. The finish features spicy notes of licorice and tobacco. A yield of 20 hl/ha. pH of 3.73. 2033–2044

About the estate:
The first classified growth visitors encounter when arriving from Bordeaux via the Médoc Wine Route, this château was purchased in 2000 by Jean-Jacques Frey, a businessman who already owned prestigious estates in Champagne and the Rhône Valley. With a long-standing reputation, La Lagune combines an elegant 18th-century charterhouse, superb cellars, a vast vineyard (110 hectares, 75 of which are dedicated to the grand vin), and a prime terroir—fine sandy gravel. These assets are brought to life by a dynamic team led by Caroline Frey, the owner’s daughter and the estate’s oenologist since 2004. The estate has been certified organic since the 2016 vintage.
