“La Lagune 2025 is fabulous: it’s undoubtedly one of the standout wines of this vintage! ~ Vinous”

“What elegance, depth, and definition in this bouquet! It’s exhilarating with its fruity intensity and classic spicy nuances. It displays a compelling interplay between notes of red berries, such as raspberries, and a hint of very ripe black berries! The velvety attack gives way to a bold, assertive, and subtly powerful wine. Its driving force comes from compact tannins and structuring acidity. The wine will continue to blossom over the coming months, but the foundation laid by La Lagune today promises great things to come. A truly beautiful success. ” (Yves Beck 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

La Lagune has not been rewarded by the weather in recent vintages for its commitment to organic viticulture. Under the guidance of its director, Caroline Frey, the wine has made significant progress in recent years, with blends featuring a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and more elegant tannin extraction. It just keeps getting better and better.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

Magnificent aromas: bright red fruits and rose petals. Tannic and a bit closed for now, with notes of black licorice. Quite tight and firm; I appreciate the freshness and purity of its lively blueberry notes, but the structure dominates for now, and the wine still lacks a bit of openness. The finish features spicy notes of licorice and tobacco. Yield of 20 hl/ha. pH of 3.73. 2033–2044

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

The first Premier Cru Classé that visitors encounter when arriving from Bordeaux via the Médoc Wine Route, this château was purchased in 2000 by Jean-Jacques Frey, a businessman who already owned prestigious estates in Champagne and the Rhône Valley. With a long-standing reputation, La Lagune combines an elegant 18th-century charterhouse, superb cellars, a vast vineyard (110 ha, 75 of which are dedicated to the grand vin), and a prime terroir—fine sandy gravel. These assets are brought to life by a dynamic team led by Caroline Frey, the owner’s daughter and the estate’s winemaker since 2004. The estate has been certified organic since the 2016 vintage.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Located at the entrance to the Médoc, this estate has established its own distinctive style, consistently expressing great finesse and elegance. Under the leadership of Caroline Frey since 2004, the estate has produced a series of very high-quality vintages that have earned it a place among the top estates in its appellation. It must be said that the château has everything it needs to succeed: a very interesting, consistent terroir and state-of-the-art winemaking facilities. This is a sure bet that has nonetheless been painfully affected by the unpredictable weather of recent vintages.

About the wine:

The Lagune 2025 is fabulous: it is undoubtedly one of the standout wines of this vintage. Aromas of vibrant red fruits, tobacco, cedar, mint, and dried flowers give it remarkable intensity, without any heaviness. The 2025 is lively, energetic, and brimming with character. Not to be missed. Tasted three times. 2030–2050
