“The first vintage since the Casteja family took over. Great value for the price!”

“Crushed strawberry, blackcurrant, mocha—the nose awakens slowly but surely. Tight tannins set the pace for a structured palate with good body; we love its silky texture, the refreshing hint of thyme, and the long, promising finish, lingering on notes of toasted almond. A promising sign for the future. ” (Guide Hachette 2026)

Wine rated (2026 guide) 91/100

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Owned by wine merchant Patrick Bernard (Millésima), Peyrabon produces two wines. The first, from the Haut-Médoc, is easy to drink and has moderate aging potential. The second, named Fleur de Peyrabon, comes from well-located vineyards in Pauillac (4 hectares), but the extraction and aging process sometimes give it a slightly dry character. The wines are well-structured and offer good value for money.

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

A dense, velvety Peyrabon with a rich bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberries, and a hint of dark chocolate. Quite powerful on the palate, it is full of well-integrated tannins leading into a long finish. Best enjoyed starting in 2028.

Land of Wines

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91-92/100

About the wine:

With its refreshing character, this wine unfolds in successive waves, with tangy red and black fruits giving way to a hint of mint. The palate is crisp and well-defined, with lingering notes of cherry pit and redcurrant, followed by a touch of spice. The oak and tannins still need some time to mellow, but the potential is definitely there!

Yves Beck

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Peyrabon’s bouquet is remarkably refined, featuring delicate notes of blueberries, elderflower, and eucalyptus, along with hints of licorice and cocoa beans. Medium-bodied, the wine boasts powerful, fine-grained tannins that provide excellent structure across the palate. An elegant wine that can certainly be enjoyed young, but it still deserves a little time to open up. 2028–2042

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2023 guide) 92/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity, with a hint of creaminess and a subtle intensity. There are notes of creamy blackberries, juicy berries, and, to a lesser extent, fairly ripe strawberries, combined with hints of mild spices and fresh vanilla...
