Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The wine owes its class and character to the heart of the Cantenac plateau and its deep siliceous and clayey gravel soils, which the vineyard shares largely with Rauzan-Ségla. Under the direction of Henri Lurton, it displays a rare consistency, with a suppleness and aromatic finesse all its own, making it sought after by wine lovers who appreciate a fine Margaux. In the most recent vintages, it seems to have taken another step forward in terms of the precision with which it expresses its terroir. The second wine, Baron-de-Brane, shares the same aesthetic with a suppleness in the tannins that should appeal to many restaurateurs and wine lovers.

Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2013) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About wine:
One might wonder whether, in a vintage such as 2009, Henri Lurton would succeed in remaining faithful to the spirit of the cru, which focuses above all on elegance. Admittedly, his wine, draped in an elegant ink-black robe with garnet highlights, shows a slight austerity of youth on the finish, proof that it has time ahead of it. But after a supple attack, the palate combines real richness, chewiness and great volume with an appealing roundness and great finesse of tannins. Add to this an intense and complex bouquet (fruit, spices, empyreumatic notes), and you have a "true Brane," balanced and charming, which has everything to annoy bodybuilding enthusiasts. Equally round, pleasant, and well-structured, the second wine Baron de Brane 2009 also earns a star.

About wine:
Medium to deep garnet in color, the 2009 Brane-Cantenac displays warm notes of red and black plums, morello cherries, and blackberries with hints of gingerbread and earth. Medium-bodied, elegant, supple, and fleshy, it delivers lively freshness and an earthy finish.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About wine:
An admirable success that tastes better and better and evolves beautifully as it becomes denser. Aristocratic in form, with very racy tannins and a balanced palate, it has a long finish.
About the estate:
This second growth is managed with conviction and talent by Henri Lurton, who has both a beautiful terroir and modern facilities at his disposal. He produces very fine wines, in what could be described as the Margaux style, without heaviness or stylistic affectation, but with delicate fruit. The estate has just produced a series of impressive vintages that are propelling it to the top of the appellation. It's time to enjoy it.

About wine:
Beautiful aromas of crushed blueberries and flowers continue on a full-bodied palate, with earth, sliced mushrooms, and dried strawberries. Aroma of lemon peel. Slightly earthy on the finish. Best after 2018.
