Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The wine owes its class and character to the heart of the Cantenac plateau and its deep siliceous and clayey gravel soils, which the vineyard shares largely with Rauzan-Ségla. Under the direction of Henri Lurton, it displays a rare consistency, with a suppleness and aromatic finesse all its own, making it sought after by wine lovers who appreciate a fine Margaux. In the most recent vintages, it seems to have taken another step forward in terms of the precision with which it expresses its terroir. The second wine, Baron-de-Brane, shares the same aesthetic with a suppleness in the tannins that should appeal to many restaurateurs and wine lovers.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 91/100
About wine:
Powerful tannins with a fairly fierce bite. There is good fruit underneath, with deep notes of blackcurrant and blueberry. Good quality but broad-shouldered. 2023–2036

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
This second growth is managed with conviction and talent by Henri Lurton, who has both a beautiful terroir and modern facilities at his disposal. He produces very fine wines, in what could be described as the Margaux style, without heaviness or stylistic affectation, but with delicate fruit. The estate has just produced a series of impressive vintages that are propelling it to the top of the appellation. It's time to enjoy it.

About wine:
Baron de Brane 2018 is rich and seductive in the glass. Delicious notes of red cherries and ripe plums come to the fore in this delicate, racy Margaux, which will drink beautifully as soon as it is released. The brilliance of the vintage comes through beautifully, yet there is also a good dose of freshness.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 89/100
About wine:
Beautiful fruity intensity in the bouquet of Brane-Cantenac's second wine. Inviting character, hints of mint and redcurrants. On the palate, the wine is delicious and juicy. It has body, is slightly creamy and, like the nose, reveals good aromatic intensity. Good tannin support and pleasant freshness on the finish. 2021 - 2030
