Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 17.5/20 (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2019 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
A pleasant surprise, with a wine that is perfectly structured on the palate, very classic Margaux in its aromatic finesse and nuances, long, sappy, infinitely more in keeping with its pedigree than 2013 and 2012.
About the estate:
This vintage is one of the least known in the classification but has excellent plots at the heart of its appellation, and its high-quality 2010 shows what it can do. The following vintages are more uneven, appearing a little thin at first but finding a nice balance two years after bottling, with an elegant floral character typical of Margaux.

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Opening onto the Route des Châteaux, in the heart of the village of Cantenac, through a majestic pink marble gate, an elegant 18th-century charterhouse commands this ancient vineyard (17th century), classified in 1855. The estate was acquired in 1980 by Lucien Lurton, who passed it on to his son Denis in 1992 when he divided his vast wine-growing estate among his children.

Wine rated (2012 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2019 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
A Margaux Third Growth, the château was literally resurrected by Lucien Lurton in the early 1980s. Since then, it has often disappointed with wines lacking in body, vigor, and distinction of bouquet. But since 2000, it has been improving steadily, displaying the aromatic finesse and delicate texture that are the hallmarks of an accomplished Margaux, with the high proportion of Merlot helping to "round out the edges" of a wine that was once a little harsh.
