Durfort-Vivens Castle
Château Durfort-Vivens owes its name to the Durfort de Duras family, a powerful family from the south-west who settled in Margaux in the 14th century. The quality of Château Durfort-Vivens Durfort wine has been appreciated since the end of the 18th century. The 1855 classification confirmed the opinion of connoisseurs by awarding it the rank of Second Growth. In 1937, the estate was taken over by Château Margaux, of which the Lurton family was then the main shareholder.

Located in the communes of Margaux, Cantenac, and Soussans, the Château Durfort-Vivens vineyard is planted on deep, particularly poor gravelly hilltops. This great terroir offers early and optimal ripeness for Cabernet Sauvignon, allowing it to fully express its finesse and silky tannins, a guarantee of the freshness and elegance characteristic of great Margaux wines.

At Château Durfort-Vivens, the constant search for a natural balance between the vine and its terroir is reflected in traditional cultivation practices. Vine management and winemaking respect the qualities of the terroir as closely as possible. Sustainable farming, plot selection, and winemaking and aging adapted to the quality of the harvest allow us to produce, through small, very precise and rigorous touches, a magnificent Château Durfort-Vivens wine with a deep, fine and tight tannic structure.
