Nose
The bouquet is intense and complex, combining red fruits such as morello cherry, redcurrant, and mirabelle plum with notes of white flowers (lilac), spices (Cayenne pepper, licorice), and subtle hints of blond tobacco and cigar box. The elegant fragrance is supported by the freshness of mineral touches.

The palate is a pure expression of the elegance and finesse of great Margaux wines. The attack is clean and fresh. The texture is finely chiseled by silky, charming tannins that harmoniously prolong the finish with superb mineral freshness.

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
About wine:
Vanilla continues to dominate and simplify the nose, with a tight mouthfeel due to this woody sensation. A special wine that will divide opinion.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Rated estate (2012 guide) 2 stars (Successful production)
About the estate:
The château owes its name to the Durfort de Duras family, a powerful family from the Southwest who settled in Margaux in the 14th century; in 1824, the Viscount de Vivens added his own name. Controlled by the Lurton family since 1937, Gonzague inherited the property in 1992 and modernized the operation. Located in the communes of Margaux, Cantenac, and Soussans, the Durfort-Vivens vineyard benefits from a terroir of deep gravelly hilltops that are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon."
James Suckling
Wine rated (2015 guide) 90/100
About wine:
A wine with notes of damp earth, grass, and currants. Chocolate and blueberries too. Medium to full-bodied, firm tannins, and a fresh finish. A little harsh now, so give it two or three years to soften up.
