"Elegant, smooth, silky, and sensual, this wine is rich, ripe, and almost overflowing with waves of polished, sweet, and fresh plums, black cherries, licorice, five-spice, espresso beans, and dark chocolate on the finish. In recent years, Château Marquis d'Alesme has really come into its own. For a Margaux appellation wine of this quality and price, my advice today is to buy it! Drink between 2026 and 2050." Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2019 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

With its new, elegant, and functional winery, inspired by historic Chinese architecture, located in the heart of the village, motivated teams, and wealthy owners committed to producing high-quality wines, this estate has everything it needs to become a classic in its appellation and a mecca for wine tourism.

Decanter

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100

About wine:

A lovely, welcoming and inviting nose, expressive and generous. Fresh, juicy and supple, the wine sparkles with lively acidity that gives it a boost, then the tannins come into play, filling the palate with dense flavors of fruit and wet stone. The mouthfeel is full, but in a pleasant way, structured and well-rounded. Well-defined fruit. The tannins just need to calm down a little and let the wine develop.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Dominated by a vast neo-Louis XIII-style château standing in the heart of Margaux, this 15-hectare estate is the flagship wine of the Perrodo vineyards, which also own Labégorce. Acquired in 2006, it is managed by Nathalie Perrodo (daughter of Hubert, who died the year of the purchase) and Marjolaine de Coninck, managing director (former manager of Fonplégade in Saint-Émilion).

Rated estate (2019 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Equipped with cutting-edge tools, the estate, which was purchased in poor condition in 2006 by the Perrodo family (Château Labégorce), is now showing its ambitions. The vineyard has also been completely overhauled, with the vines now being tended to a standard worthy of a classified growth and the plots redistributed. The estate formerly known as Marquis d'Alesme Becker is now a force to be reckoned with. Of note: the opening of a wine tourism center at the château, making it a very interesting attraction in Margaux.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100

About wine:

Marquis d'Alesme Becker 2019 was very impressive in barrel. Now in bottle, it has retained its engaging aromas of blackberry, raspberry, cedar, and a hint of spice, well-defined and typical of Margaux. The attack is discreet, smooth, and sensual, with magnificent, very pure red fruit. I love the harmony of this wine and the way it soars towards the finish. Deceptively approachable, it will blossom beautifully in the bottle. 2025-2050

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100

About wine:

A fragrant nose of black cherries, blackberries, mocha, dried flowers, bark, caramel, cedar, and cake spices. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Fragrant and silky, with abundant notes of ripe cherries and sweet spices. Well-structured and layered with a savory finish. Drink from 2025 onwards.
