"Elegant, smooth, silky, and sensual, this wine is rich, ripe, and almost bursting with waves of polished, sweet, and fresh plums, black cherries, licorice, five-spice, espresso beans, and dark chocolate on the finish. In recent years, Château Marquis d'Alesme has really come into its own. For a Margaux appellation wine at this level of quality and price, my advice today is: buy it! Drink between 2026 and 2050.” (The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve 2022) - Delivered in a wooden case for any order of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Pickup Point delivery method)

About the estate:

With its new, elegant, and functional winery—inspired by traditional Chinese architecture and located right in the heart of the village—along with its dedicated teams and passionate owners committed to producing wines that showcase the region’s exceptional terroir, this estate has everything it takes to become a classic of its appellation and a premier destination for wine tourism.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

A lovely, welcoming, and inviting nose—expressive and generous. Fresh, juicy, and supple, the wine sparkles with a lively acidity that gives it a real kick, then the tannins come into play, filling the palate with dense flavors of fruit and wet stone. The palate is full-bodied, yet pleasant, structured, and well-rounded. Well-defined fruit. The tannins just need to mellow a bit and let the wine develop.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

Dominated by a grand Neo-Louis XIII-style château standing in the heart of Margaux, this 15-hectare estate is the flagship wine of the Perrodo vineyards, which also own Labégorce. Acquired in 2006, it is managed by Nathalie Perrodo (daughter of Hubert, who passed away the year of the acquisition) and Marjolaine de Coninck, general manager (formerly in charge of Fonplégade in Saint-Émilion).

Rated estate (2019 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the estate—purchased in a sorry state in 2006 by the Perrodo family (Château Labégorce)—is making its ambitions clear. In the vineyard, everything has also been taken in hand, with vineyard management now worthy of a classified growth and a redistribution of plots. The estate formerly known as Marquis d’Alesme Becker is now a force to be reckoned with. Note: the opening of a wine tourism center at the château makes it a very interesting attraction in Margaux.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

The 2019 Marquis d'Alesme Becker was very impressive in the barrel. Now in the bottle, it has retained its inviting aromas of blackberry, raspberry, cedar, and a hint of spice—well-defined and typical of Margaux. The attack is subtle, smooth, and sensual, with magnificent, very pure red fruit. I love the harmony of this wine and the way it builds toward the finish. Deceptively understated, it will age beautifully in the bottle. 2025–2050

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

The nose offers aromas of black cherries, ripe fruit, mocha, dried flowers, bark, caramel, cedar, and cake spices. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Fragrant and silky, with abundant notes of ripe cherries and sweet spices. Well-structured and layered, with a savory finish. Best enjoyed starting in 2025.
