“A Palmer who emphasizes his identity, his uniqueness, and his desire to shine through his delicacy, grace, serenity, and humility. ~ Yves Beck”
“One of the most refined and harmonious wines of the vintage is the Palmer 2025, a blend of 55% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot, which releases aromas of sweet blackberries, plums, and licorice into the glass, enhanced by floral notes of violet and wisteria (yes, the tasting room window was closed). Full-bodied, smooth, and complex, with a deep, concentrated fruit core, lively acidity, and supple tannins, it is already harmonious and fully developed, finishing with a long, penetrating aftertaste. With only 13.5% alcohol, its alcohol content is significantly lower than that of most recent sunny Palmer vintages.” (Wine Advocate 2026)

Wine rated (2026 guide) 97/100
About the wine:
Powerfully fragrant aromas, truly intense and direct, so expressive yet also deep and alluring, with intoxicating notes of rose and blackcurrant. Immediately lively on the palate, it exudes a truly captivating energy. Full-bodied, succulent, with a light texture yet brimming with tannins, it remains nonetheless harmonious. Almost ethereal, yet no less complex, with a subtle touch of body and minerality. Perhaps more delicate in some respects than other, more opulent Palmers, but there is undeniably power here, wrapped in freshness and approachability. Robust, majestic, complex. I love this darker, perhaps firmer, more lively wine. A thoroughly captivating Palmer in my eyes, far more than just a blend of fruit and acidity. 14% press wine. 85 IPT. Harvested September 4–26. 2034–2050

About the estate:
Legend has it that during a trip to France in 1814, British General Charles Palmer fell under the spell of Marie de Gascq, who was looking for a buyer for her Médoc wine. Palmer was born. Next came the Pereire brothers in 1853, influential bankers who built the current château and expanded the vineyard; then, starting in 1938, the Mähler-Besse, Sichel, Miailhe, and Ginestet families (only the first two remain today). Managed since 2004 by Thomas Duroux, this Third Growth, often considered a “super-second,” spans 66 hectares across the rolling hills of Cantenac.

Rated estate (2021 guide): 3 stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
Along with Château Margaux, Palmer is the other great star of an appellation that is all too often inconsistent. Its style, characterized by opulence and roundness, with a magnificent silkiness, is nevertheless very different from that of its neighbor. The explanation lies primarily in the difference in grape varieties (and thus terroir) between the two estates. Château Palmer is thus one of the Médoc’s classified growths to include the highest proportion of Merlot in its final blend (around 50%). Palmer has cemented its legendary status by producing some absolutely sumptuous wines: the 1961, 1983, and 1989 vintages remain essential benchmarks. Now owned by the heirs of two prominent families, the Mähler-Besses and the Sichels, Palmer is led by the brilliant Thomas Duroux, who has taken the latest vintages to the pinnacle of excellence. It has been certified biodynamic since 2018.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 97-98/100
About the wine:
“Dreamlike”: that’s the word that best describes this red wine. Full-bodied and complex, it offers velvety tannins and a savory finish. It has a lovely freshness on the palate. Vibrant and refined. It’s bursting with aromas and flavors of blackberry and blackcurrant.
Yves Beck

About the wine:
Palmer’s bouquet unfolds with its characteristic elegance, revealing aromas of redcurrants and violets, followed by hints of orange peel, Sichuan pepper, and licorice. Creamy on the palate, the wine embarks on an elegant and subtle journey. It focuses on finesse while drawing on tannins that give it vigor and body, supported by a crisp, mouth-watering acidity that brings freshness. A Palmer that highlights its identity, its uniqueness, its desire to shine through its delicacy, grace, serenity, and humility. It knows it is great, but it lets everyone come to that conclusion on their own. When finesse takes precedence over power, its greatness is self-evident! 2030–2060
