Château Rauzan-Ségla Margaux 2025 - 2nd Grand Cru Classé (Primeurs)

This wine has a magnificent bright pink color with violet highlights, and a nose of violet aromas: very deep but very fragrant, with no hints of warmth or sunshine. It is so juicy and lively, with beautiful structure—supple tannins define its contours while the purity of the fruit takes center stage. I enjoy it immensely; it’s very approachable, refined, and precise, with layers of fine tannins and liveliness. You can sense the concentration in the structure, but this lends it a truly playful, convivial, and inviting character thanks to its juiciness on the mid-palate. 50% of the production is grand vin. pH of 3.67. Aged for 18 months, 60% in new barrels. 0.5% Cabernet Franc rounds out the blend. 2034–2048

Château Rauzan-Ségla is performing at a very high level. We are struck by the 2019’s radiant fruit and the wine’s ability to handle its high level of ripeness. It finishes with taffeta-like tannins, refreshing acidity, and a hint of mint; it’s impressively dense, with fruit that’s more candied than in 2018, yet full of charm and depth. It finishes on a note of cocoa, with tannins that remain very delicate. We also had the opportunity to taste again some vintages that are more “ready to drink,” such as the 2010, which is in excellent form, and the 2006, which is refined and silky.

In great vintages, Château Rauzan-Ségla offers power, finesse, and balance all at once. Very typical of the Margaux style, it reveals a silky-smooth palate when the oak is not too pronounced.

Right from the start, the depth is evident in Rauzan-Ségla’s bouquet, as is its complexity! Subtle hints of sweet spices emerge discreetly, while inviting notes of violets and blackberries—complemented by a touch of black pepper—highlight both freshness and ripeness. The velvety attack heralds a full-bodied and powerful wine. It strikes a balance between charm, power, and character with rare coherence, guided by finesse as its guiding principle. A wine distinguished by the incisive character of its acidity and the smooth touch of its tannins, set against a vibrant backdrop with an exceptional burst of energy. A truly great wine. 2030–2070

With its intense color, it captivates from the very first moment with a bouquet that blends notes of violet, cherry, and tobacco. The first sip reveals its character with elegance, vitality, and purity. Everything here is in balance and harmony. The silky, velvety finish is almost too good to be true. From start to finish, this wine unfolds seamlessly; and although it displays great intensity and remarkable concentration, it seems almost weightless, making it deceptively easy to drink. But don’t be fooled. It possesses all the qualities necessary to age and evolve over decades. The blend consists of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot, and 0.5% Cabernet Franc. 13.5% alcohol. pH of 3.67. Harvest took place from September 2 to 24. The yield was 29 hectoliters per hectare. Best enjoyed between 2030 and 2070.

Deep purple color with violet highlights and a black core. A rich, concentrated yet elegant nose, slightly closed at first but opening up nicely, with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackcurrant buds, elderberries, and raspberries. Notes of incense and subtle toasty hints, with delicate floral touches in the background and blackcurrant buds. On the palate, it is well-structured and balanced with ripe tannins, gentle acidity, and elegant blackcurrant and raspberry fruit, leading to a juicy finish with excellent length.
