" Confirms the excellent impression we had during the en primeur tastings. Harmonious nose, offering mellow fruit, sweet floral notes and elegant oak, with a palate that lives up to expectations, showing depth, savory tannins and great length. Substance, potential, balance—it has it all. Very Médoc-like." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve)

Wine rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (A serious production, recommendable, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About wine:

Confirms the excellent impression we had during the en primeur tastings. Harmonious nose, offering mellow fruit, sweet floral notes, and elegant oak; the palate lives up to expectations, with depth, savory tannins, and great length. Substance, potential, balance—it has it all. Very Médoc-like.

About the estate:

A consistent, well-balanced Médoc offering excellent value for money, overseen by its discreet winemaker, Jean-Marc Landureau, since 1989. A very Médoc style, with a velvety structure rather than power. With its 2016 vintage, the estate has produced one of its best vintages in a long time.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated wine (2020 guide) Cited (Successful wine)

Rated estate (guide 202) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About wine:

The perfect balance between Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (45% each) is complemented by a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The result is quite interesting, with a beautiful aromatic expression combining ripe red and black fruits and good tannic structure.

About the estate:

Jean Landureau acquired the property in 1934 and transformed it into a stud farm. His son Jean-Michel developed the vineyard and took his grapes to the cooperative until the arrival of the third generation and Jean-Marc, who took over in 1990. After Jean-Marc's death, his daughter Anne took over the estate, which has consistently produced high-quality wines and has been converting to biodynamic farming since 2018.

Wine rating (2017 guide) 88-90/100 (Outstanding wine)

Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

The 2016 Escurac has a fresh and lively bouquet with lots of blackberry and raspberry aromas, and a minerality that develops over time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a slender texture with juicy blackberries and empyreumatic notes towards the finish, reminiscent of the right bank. Not bad at all.

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (2019 guide) 91/100

About wine:

Aromas of blackberry, licorice, and tar linger into a full body with soft tannins and a savory finish. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It takes a year or two to prepare. Drink after 2020.

I loved the 2011 vintage. I was disappointed by this 2016, which was less flavorful and perhaps too young (drunk in 2020).
