Château Mauvesin Barton
Château Mauvesin is one of the three “noble houses” that belonged to Jean de Foix Grailly in 1457. It was Loïs Leblanc, the last Marquis of Mauvesin, who had the current château built in 1853. He died in 1881, leaving the estate to his cousin, the Count of Baritault du Carpia, the grandson of a Mauvesin.
Viscount and Viscountess A. de Baritault du Carpia, who had been the owners until then, sold Château Mauvesin on August 4, 2011, to Mrs. Lilian Barton-Sartorius, owner for eight generations of the Léoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton châteaux, second and third growths of Saint-Julien. A commitment to quality has been maintained, and significant investments have been made to make Château Mauvesin Barton one of the jewels of Moulis.
