Château Haut-Batailley
Owned by the Des Brest-Borie family since 1930, Château Haut-Batailley—a 1855 Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac—was acquired in March 2017 by another Bordeaux family, the Cazes family, who also own another château in Pauillac, Lynch-Bages. The Château Haut-Batailley estate spans 40 hectares, including 22 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 35 years, all of which are already planted. Cabernet Sauvignon is by far the dominant variety, accounting for 70% of the vineyard, complemented by 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
Although owned by the same family, the decision to maintain its independence in terms of management and winemaking—with a dedicated team—allows Château Haut-Batailley to preserve its integrity and evolve at its own pace.
