Owned by the Des Brest-Borie family since 1930, Château Haut-Batailley—a 1855 Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac—passed into the hands of another Bordeaux family in March 2017: the Cazes family, who also own another château in Pauillac, Lynch-Bages. The Château Haut-Batailley estate spans 40 hectares, including 22 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 35 years that are already planted. Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the vast majority of the vineyard, accounting for 70% of the vineyard mix, complemented by 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
Although owned by the same family, the decision to maintain its independence in terms of management and winemaking—with a dedicated team—allows Château Haut-Batailley to preserve its integrity and evolve at its own pace.
