"A high-flying Mouton that ranks among the property's Hall of Fame and at the top of the Médoc!"

"Wow! The aromas are so complete: blackcurrant, asphalt, violet, pencil lead, orange blossom, and black truffle. A perfect nose. Full-bodied but supported by harmonious tannins that extend throughout the wine, giving it a seductive palate and persistence. A vintage with one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon ever recorded. The quintessence of a great Bordeaux without limits." (James Suckling 2025) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Nose

Intense from the very first moment, it reveals a concentration of fresh, fully ripe black berries. The aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry are subtly underscored by hints of graphite and cocoa bean.

Mouth

With infinite depth, the wine is full-bodied, generous, velvety, and reveals great nobility and purity. Nuances of cedar, spices, and white pepper complete the aromatic palette. Its complexity, flavor, and delicately licorice-like tannins seem to express themselves endlessly.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

5-star estate (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About the estate:

Philippine de Rothschild left her children a property in excellent condition, managed by an impeccable technical team. Originally called Brane-Mouton, the property became Mouton-Rothschild in 1853 when Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild acquired it. His great-grandson Philippe took over in 1922 and began marketing the wine in bottles. Mouton's privileged terroir and its very old vines, magnified in recent vintages thanks to favorable weather conditions and the help of a magnificent winery built in 2013, produce what is perhaps the most formally perfect wine in the Médoc. This will not prevent it from closing up in a great vintage before reaching what is predicted to be a glorious peak. The second wine, Petit Mouton, resembles the grand cru like a little brother, and the white, Aile d'Argent, is gradually becoming one of the most complete in the Médoc.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (Exceptional wine)

About the estate:

Acquired in 1853 by the Rothschild family, Ch. Mouton Rothschild is closely linked to the personality of Baron Philippe. Taking over the estate in 1922, he restored it to its former glory by modernizing it (notably with the construction of the famous "grand chai" wine cellar), a project that culminated in 1973 with the revision of the 1855 classification and Mouton's promotion to the rank of Premier Cru Classé. Baron Philippe also turned the estate into the foundation of a small empire comprising other vineyards and a wine merchant. He also played an important role in the history of wine by being one of the first to bottle wine at the château, starting in 1926, and by having his labels illustrated by artists. From 1988 onwards, his daughter Philippine, who passed away in 2014, continued his work. Her children, Camille and Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild, succeeded her. Philippe Dhalluin has been the director since 2003. At his disposal is an 84-hectare vineyard located mainly on a very deep gravel hilltop known as the "Plateau de Mouton" and a brand new winery built in 2013.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About the estate:

Philippe Sereys de Rothschild has presided over this iconic family estate in Pauillac since 2014. The wine, always flamboyant, naturally exuding generous smoky notes, is more refined than ever. Although Mouton experienced a slump in the mid-1990s, it made a brilliant comeback in the early 2000s. This was followed by a series of magnificent vintages that continue to write the legend of the only 1855 classified growth to have been promoted: from second growth, it logically moved up to first growth in 1973. Philippe Dhalluin, the architect of the estate's revival, has handed over the reins to a strong duo formed by Ariane Khaida (managing director) and Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy (technical director). Mouton, which has had a new cellar since 2013, is evolving at the very top. Of particular note is the progress made by the white wine, which is clearer and more precise than ever.

About wine:

Bottled in June 2024, Château Mouton Rothschild 2022 is a classic blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot, aged entirely in new barrels. Incredibly concentrated yet light and graceful, this ink-colored wine offers sensational notes of blackcurrant, graphite, crushed stone, and chocolate that are truly breathtaking. It expresses the ripe and opulent style of the vintage, while offering exceptional purity, generous tannins, and a magnificent finish. For enthusiasts, this wine has 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.86, and an IPT (tannins) of 76. It has the depth of fruit and texture necessary to offer incredible pleasure today, but it deserves a decade of bottle aging and will evolve for 50 to 60 years. It reminds me of a blend of 2009 and 2010. 2035-2095

About wine:

What is striking about this wine is the grandeur it displays spontaneously, without a shadow of a doubt, without hesitation! The correlation between fruit, terroir, aging, and freshness is breathtaking. It reminds me of the bouquet of the 1986, which is a valuable reference. On the palate, the wine begins by revealing its charm, quickly surrounded by fine-grained tannins and a constructive, structuring austerity, stretching out the finish and aromatic persistence. A high-flying Mouton that ranks among the estate's Hall of Fame. Of course, it does not yet reveal itself entirely, and rightly so, as it already has enough to marvel at! It therefore has the luxury of improving while already being perfect. I'm not going to repeat the 101/100 trick, but we could reward it with a 180, as in darts. 2030-2070

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2025 guide) 100/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is elegant, mineral, intense, racy, powerful, airy, and offers a very discreetly tight, intense, and airy texture. There are notes of boysenberry, morello cherry and, more subtly, warm, racy undertones combined with hints of violet, dense berries and a touch of graphene, discreet hints of nutmeg, a subtle hint of star anise and almost an infusion (in freshness). The palate is beautifully crafted, elegant, precise, deep, airy, chiseled, and offers freshness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, bright blackcurrant and, more subtly, elegant roasted raspberry, morello cherry combined with hints of elegant roasted fruit and subtle hints of licorice stick, tonka bean/chocolate and tobacco. The tannins are mellow, elegant, and silky. Good length. A beautifully crafted, mellow, deeply indulgent, and perfectly balanced wine, with great attention to detail. Superb persistence.

About wine:

The nose captivates the attention with its dazzling display of truffles, cigar boxes, spices, black and blue fruits, and dried flowers. However, it is the palate that steals the show with its ostentatious, flamboyant intensity, velvety texture, and cashmere-like texture of red and black fruits. The wine continues to gain intensity as it opens up in all directions on the palate. The harmonious finish lingers for over 60 seconds, inviting you to smell and savor the pleasure it provides once again. This is a future legendary wine from Mouton Rothschild. This wine is composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot, with an alcohol content of 14%. Drink between 2030 and 2070.
