Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild
Originally known as Château Brane-Mouton, it was renamed in 1853 Château Mouton Rothschild by its owner on Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild. Much later, one of the family’s descendants took the initiative to bottle the wine exclusively at the château, and a massive 100-meter-long cellar was built to house the barrels. It was this same descendant who helped the estate achieve a unique and exceptional status. In 1973, the Château Mouton Rothschild will finally have its wine reclassified as a Pauillac Premier Grand Cru Classé, alongside Lafite-Rothschild and Latour.

Château Mouton Rothschild bottles stand out visually thanks to labels designed by international artists such as Miró, Chagall, Picasso, and Jeff Koons. Today, the children of the Baroness de Rothschild run the estate and ensure that the quality and excellence of this legendary wine endure. The estate has also produced a white Bordeaux called Aile d'Argent since 1991 and a second wine called Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild since 1993.
