"This is the second wine of Château Pibran, whose vineyard is located near the Mouton and Lafite Crus Classés. Structured and dense, it is a solid and powerful wine, full of juicy blackcurrants and generous tannins." (Wine Enthusiast 2015)

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, but where we are unable to give an overall opinion on the style of the entire range)

About the estate:

Owned by Axa, this vineyard is ideally located on a gravelly hilltop, with such prestigious neighbors as Pontet-Canet and d'Armailhac. With the acquisition of Château Tour Pibran in 2001, Jean-René Matignon and the Pichon-Baron teams were able to select the best plots for Pibran and create a second wine.

About the estate:

Located on the ridge between Pontet-Canet and Armailhac, Pibran was acquired by AXA Millésimes in 1987. Vinified by the excellent Jean-René Matignon of Pichon-Longueville, the wine regularly stands out among the elite of the crus bourgeois, characterized by a very classic Pauillac style, combining generosity and tannic structure. Full-bodied, aromatic, and readily accessible, it ages well and with grace.
