Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About wine:
Delicately spicy and fruity nose, notes of warm stone, very refined palate, flavorful flesh, silky tannins, and an excellent fresh finish. Utterly elegant.
About the estate:
In 1970, the sisters of the Holy Family Community decided to enhance the value of their wine-growing assets by calling on outside expertise. Since 1993, under the leadership of Olivier Bernard (Domaine de Chevalier), who took on a 40-year lease of the estate's land, a long renovation project has been underway. Today, the estate has earned its place among the finest Pessac-Léognan wines. Both the red and white wines are always very expressive, with unfailing aromatic intensity. They are powerful, with good aging potential for the reds, but also elegant, fresh, and balanced. These are wines of character that do not go unnoticed.

About wine:
The 2016 vintage is a success, taking full advantage of the balanced nature of the year, with good persistence and fruit that remains very fresh.
About the estate:
Operated since 1993 by Olivier Bernard (Domaine de Chevalier), the Domaine de la Solitude, a very old Martillac property belonging to the religious community of the Holy Family, has achieved a very respectable level of quality, with great consistency. The whites are accessible and delicious; the reds, which can be enjoyed for their fruitiness, age well over a decade. Prices remain very affordable.
