Château Le Thil

Château Le Thil, which until then had no vineyards, regained its vineyard of about 20 hectares classified as A.O.C. Pessac-Léognan in 1990: “Château Le Thil Comte Clary.” Located in the town of Léognan, in the Bordeaux region, it was taken over in 2012 by Florence and Daniel Cathiard. Today, the vineyard comprises 12 hectares of vines, adjacent to the famous cru classé Smith Haut-Lafitte.

The Château Le Thil vineyard is situated on a clay-limestone and gravelly terroir ideal for the vines’ growth. The vineyard’s grape varieties consist of Sémillon and Sauvignon for the white wines, and predominantly Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, for the red wines. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand. Château Le Thil’s wine perfectly exemplifies the high quality of the Pessac-Léognan appellation’s terroir.
