Le Thil Castle
Château Le Thil, which had previously had no vineyards, regained its vineyard of about 20 hectares classified under the Pessac-Léognan A.O.C. in 1990: “Château Le Thil Comte Clary.” Located in the town of Léognan, in the Bordeaux region, it was taken over in 2012 by Florence and Daniel Cathiard. Today, the vineyard comprises 12 hectares of vines, adjacent to the famous cru classé Smith Haut-Lafitte.

The Château Le Thil vineyard is situated on clay-limestone and gravelly soil, ideal for the vines’ growth. The vineyard’s grape varieties consist of Sémillon and Sauvignon for the white wines, and predominantly Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, for the red wines. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand. Château Le Thil’s wine perfectly reflects the high quality of the Pessac-Léognan appellation’s terroir.
