"Lespault-Martillac 2019 is round, juicy, and quite appealing. Red cherry, rose petal, mint, spice, licorice, anise, and citrus. The supple and creamy finish makes it a very nice wine. This bold and punchy Pessac-Léognan is very easy to enjoy. " (Vinous A. Galloni 2022) A great wine produced by Olivier Bernard, head of the famous Domaine de Chevalier. For several years now, it has been undergoing a wonderful stylistic evolution. One to watch!

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

"A clearing in the middle of the forest": this is how Olivier Bernard describes Ch. Chevalier, an estate with ancient origins, acquired in 1983 by his family (wine merchants). He expanded the vineyard (now 45 hectares), planted on beautiful gravelly soil, made significant investments, and turned Chevalier into one of the pillars of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Olivier Bernard also leases the Domaine de la Solitude, owned by the Sisters of the Holy Family, and Château Lespault-Martillac, owned by his neighbor Claude Bolleau. In 2015, he also took over the management of Château Suau, a second growth Sauternes.

About wine:

Elegant, refined, and fresh, this wine readily reveals its palette of smoky flavors, coffee beans, flowers, and sweet cherries on the nose. On the palate, the wine is loaded with spices and sweet, juicy, ripe red berries. The refined finish with its creamy, supple tannins and freshness hits the mark. You can drink it as soon as it is released or let it age for a few years. Best enjoyed between 2024 and 2034.
