“A superb vintage that captures all the charm of Pomerol!”

“A superbly intense bouquet that highlights not only the charm of Pomerol but also the effectiveness of the La Pointe team’s approach, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Hints of tea leaves, tobacco, and mint, while the fruitiness comes through in aromas of black berries. Great finesse, precision, and character in this wine, which, as director Eric Monneret puts it, is a beautiful synthesis of 2018 and 2019... The best La Pointe the La Pointe team has produced to date. ” (Yves Beck 2022) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Wine rated (2021 guide) 93-94/100

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Generali France, the estate’s owner, can be pleased with the investments made in the 22 hectares of La Pointe, situated on sandy and gravelly soils. Ever-inspired, the estate’s talented director, Éric Monneret, has successfully established his wine’s reputation. He manages his technical team with great skill and heeds the sound advice of consultant Hubert de Boüard. Soil analysis and the implementation of rigorous plot-by-plot management have made the estate one of the benchmarks in the region, gaining in aromatic purity and silkiness over the years.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

Aromas of blackcurrant, milk chocolate, and flowers—a beautiful, lively, and forward-thinking expression. Elegant and compelling, this wine makes an immediate impression: bold and crisp, with a sharp, fruity profile driven by high acidity. The tannins create a layered, detailed, and precise effect, and you can sense that they are sculpted. Juicy and lively, it displays great energy and plenty of charm, shining in the glass from the very first sip. Generous and almost sweet, it tightens up and becomes more focused on the finish, offering a clean element that tingles the tongue, with salt, minerality, licorice, and oak spices. It is a testament to the talent and hard work put into the estate over the past 15 years. 2025–2042

About the estate:

This significant vineyard (23 hectares) owes its name to its location at the tip formed by the roads leading to the town center and Catusseau, just outside Libourne. Known for its consistent quality, it was acquired in 2007 by the Generali Group. Éric Monneret, originally from the Jura region and formerly of Sauternes, manages the vineyard.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

This long-established estate, located at the entrance to Pomerol, has made significant strides since its acquisition by the insurance company Generali: the vineyard has been revitalized, and a new winery has been built. Under the leadership of its director, Éric Monneret, the wine has become truly noteworthy: it now possesses the aromatic charm, smoothness, warmth, and length found in its finest neighbors, as well as a distinctive finesse that, even in hot vintages, keeps it from becoming heavy. A property to watch closely!

About the wine:

This wine is spicy and toasty, with notes of blackcurrant, plum, toasted spices, cedar, violet, and toasted herbs. It is full-bodied with sumptuous, velvety tannins and a rich, succulent black fruit profile. The finish is firm, with notes of chocolate and wet stone. Best enjoyed after 2024.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

A superbly intense bouquet that highlights not only the charm of Pomerol but also the effectiveness of the approach taken by the team at La Pointe, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Hints of tea leaves, tobacco, and mint, while the fruitiness comes through in aromas of black berries. This wine displays great finesse, precision, and character; as director Eric Monneret puts it, it is a beautiful synthesis of 2018 and 2019. The tannins are refined, precise, and generous, creating a perfect harmony with the wine’s acidity. A concentrated blend of fruit and tension that captivates with its finesse. The finish stands out for its freshness, liveliness, and persistence, but also for its “Pomerolian” character! The best La Pointe the La Pointe team has produced to date. 2027–2045

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

Notes of roses, violets, flowers, and spicy hints of kirsch unfold in the bouquet. As delightful as the nose is, the wine is even better on the palate, with its silky, sensual texture. Perfectly ripe plums and cherries offer depth of flavor, opulent textures, and richness on the finish, along with a freshness that captures the attention and makes you want to take another sip. This is the best vintage of La Pointe I have ever tasted. Drink between 2024 and 2050.
