Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)
About the wine:
The 2018 vintage is already very appealing, with a creamy and juicy palate. It will age beautifully.
About the estate:
This estate, owned by Philippe Casteja, is one of Pomerol’s great classics. It receives the same meticulous care as its “big brother,” Château Domaine de l’Église. The wines age with elegance and classic style. The most recent vintages are of a high standard. We recommend it for its reliability and excellent value for money.
Decanter
Wine rated (2019 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
This is a wine to watch—it boasts a deep ruby color and aromas of caramel, alongside soft red fruits and blackberries. On the mid-palate, it gains body across the palate. This is the result of an extremely gentle winemaking process, with lower temperatures of 26°C instead of the usual 28°C, and a sandy-clay terroir similar to that of Château Taillefer. Drinking window: 2024–2035.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the estate:
Grown on sandy-gravelly soil and composed of 93% Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc, this superb 2016 vintage, with its deep color accented by violet hues, offers an intense nose of candied fruit, spices, and toasted notes. The palate, full-bodied and persistent, also centered on spicy fruit, reveals a velvety texture, structured by rich tannins that promise a promising aging potential.

About the estate:
The estate produces a smooth, very flavorful Pomerol with a strong truffle aroma reminiscent of Clinet, at a much more affordable price. Its vineyard, situated on sandy-gravel soils, is excellent.
