“This grand cru is dominated by Merlot (98%, blended with Cabernet Franc) and leans more toward elegance than power. While the nose is rich and generous, with notes of jammy fruit and prunes, the palate is fresh and delicate, supported by fine tannins. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2015) • Delivered in a wooden case for all orders of 6 bottles of this wine (Excludes “Point Relais” delivery method) •

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
With its pronounced minty notes, the 2011 vintage displays the crisp profile characteristic of this vineyard, with lovely expressiveness. It seems to have fully integrated the aging process that left a strong mark on it in its early years.
About the estate:
This well-located vineyard is planted almost exclusively with Merlot, situated on a small south/southwest-facing plateau above Château Angélus, which owns half of it. Hubert de Boüard manages the estate and oversees the winemaking with the same determination and similar resources as at Château Angélus. A very ripe vintage yielding a harmonious, full-bodied wine that is heavily oaked as a primeur (which excites some, but not us), one that is too often judged and enjoyed for its youthful vigor and, unfortunately, not enough for the depth of its clay soils, which produce Saint-Émilions of rare power on the palate.
