“This grand cru is dominated by Merlot (98%, blended with Cabernet Franc) and leans more toward elegance than power. While the nose is rich and generous, with notes of jammy fruit and prunes, the palate is fresh and delicate, supported by fine tannins. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2015) • Delivered in a wooden case for any order of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding “Point Relais” delivery method) •

Wine rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

With its pronounced minty notes, the 2011 vintage displays the crisp profile characteristic of this cru, with lovely expressiveness. It seems to have fully integrated the aging process that left a strong mark on it early in its life.

About the estate:

This well-located vineyard is planted almost exclusively with Merlot, situated on a small south/southwest-facing plateau above Château Angélus, which owns half of it. Hubert de Boüard manages the property and oversees the winemaking with the same determination and similar resources as at Château Angélus. A vintage harvested very ripe, resulting in a harmonious, full-bodied wine that is heavily oaked as a primeur (which excites some, but not us), and which is too often judged and enjoyed while still in its “adolescent” phase, rather than for the depth of its clay-rich soil—which produces Saint-Émilions of rare power on the palate.
