Château Mangot
As early as 1556, the Mangot vineyard was cited as a renowned wine-growing entity. Château Mangot has thus stood the test of time to become today a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru in the commune of Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, in the eastern part of the appellation.
In 1954, Simone and Jean Petit brought about a new turning point in the history of Château Mangot. Starting from nothing, their hard work and ambition enabled them to build up the 34 hectares of vineyards, hectare by hectare, over the years. They also acquired Château La Brande in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
In 1989, Anne-Marie, Jean and Simone's daughter, and her husband Jean-Guy Todeschin, aware of Mangot's potential, decided to explore and enhance its terroirs. It was time for renewal. The vineyard was restructured, terraces were created, and buildings were constructed and renovated. Meanwhile, the Château Mangot vineyard obtained the Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation.
In 2008, Karl and Yann, Anne-Marie and Jean-Guy's sons, joined them at the estate and brought a new dynamic to Mangot. With their studies and experience in viticulture, constantly researching and questioning, they pushed technical boundaries, innovated, and created new vintages. The vineyard has been fully certified organic since 2020 and is in the process of converting to biodynamics.
The creation and development of Mangot are based on a family and its values: enthusiasm, high standards, and respect.
