Cheval Noir
For over 80 years, the estate Black Horse belongs to the Bordeaux wine merchant Mähler-Besse. It has, in fact, become a huge hit among Bordeaux wine enthusiasts. The symbol of the Black Horse represents hard work, elegance, strength, and courage.
This winery offers four different wines: a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, a Saint-Émilion, a red Bordeaux, and a white Bordeaux. The Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru vineyards are located in the eastern part of the appellation, covering 5 hectares and bordering the lands of the prestigious Château Angélus (1er Grand Cru Classé). Its owner, Hubert de Boüard, shares his expertise and advises the estate. Black Horse in the production of its wines.
As for the white and red Bordeaux wines, they are grown on hillsides and benefit from a very distinctive clay-limestone terroir. The Cheval Noir dry white Bordeaux is made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, which accounts for its minerality and roundness. As for the Cheval Noir red Bordeaux, its blend consists of Merlot and Cabernet, explaining its woody and fruity notes.
