"A masterful wine!"
Fabulous aromas of blackberries, blueberries, pine needles, and spices such as nutmeg, allspice, and white pepper. Full-bodied and very tight, with a solid core of fruit and ultra-fine but powerful tannins. The wine has so much energy and dynamism. Vibrant on every level. Precise and not overly powerful, but so structured. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. It needs time to soften. Try after 2026." Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
In the early 1990s, the term "garage wines" was coined, humorously referring to Saint-Émilion wines produced in very small quantities "in a garage instead of a cellar." Ch. Croix de Labrie is one such wine. Its 5.7-hectare vineyard, cultivated organically, is located on the Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes plateau, right next to Pavie. It is owned by Axelle and Pierre Courdurié.

About wine:
Dark color with black highlights. Intense, fruity nose, pure and delicately truffled. Hints of vanilla and spices. Meticulous on the palate, very aromatic in the middle, with a delicate touch and a slightly softer body than the 2018 vintage, this wine caresses the palate with its juicy, long, powerful finish, without any tannic edges. Beautiful length on the aroma.
Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2021 guide) 96-97/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About wine:
The nose is floral and elegant, offering a slight concentration as well as controlled power and finesse. The aromatic palette is beautifully broad. There are notes of blueberry, lily, small blue fruits and, more subtly, raspberry, combined with hints of crushed strawberry, crushed cherry, delicate hints of licorice, sweet blond tobacco and a subtle hint of terroir (local biotope). The palate is fruity and offers brightness, richness, depth, bite, lovely energy, and a pleasant melodious and fresh quality. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy blackberry, bright cherry and, more subtly, pulpy redcurrants combined with hints of raspberry, lily, chocolate, caramelization, subtle hints of sweet blond tobacco, morello cherry and a very discreet hint of cedar/small fresh flowers (in the background). There is a subtle hint of saltiness on the finish. The tannins are elegant and mellow. There is a certain richness/concentration, but it is controlled/refined. A lovely texture and touch on the finish. Good length.

About wine:
Almost opaque in color, the wine has a complex aromatic profile with dark chocolate, tobacco leaves, licorice, smoke, flowers, cherries, and plums. Rich, concentrated, full-bodied, and deep. The wine has great length, with a finish lasting 50 seconds! The finish offers a richness of ripe fruit, supple and polished tannins, and vibrant fruit that just won't stop. As I said when the wine was in barrel, this could be the best wine from La Croix de Labrie to date! Drink between 2024 and 2042.
