A lovely nose, delicate and subtle, without giving too much away. Beautiful concentration and excellent structure, with a core of deep black fruit and lovely, soft, enveloping tannins. I love its energy, freshness, and lightness. It’s not a showstopper, but it seems to have been carefully crafted. 2025–2044

About the estate:

Marcel Dassault lent his name to the former Château Couperie, located on the northern slope of Saint-Emilion. These cool terroirs require a certain discipline in cultivation to produce great wines. Since 1995, under the capable leadership of Laurence Brun, cultivation and winemaking have been carried out according to the strictest standards of the Bordeaux school. A sure bet, the estate is beginning to take its rightful place.

About the wine:

Ripe and opulent, with the warm character of a compote of blackcurrants, plums, and blackberries. The whole is underpinned by notes of alder and juniper that linger into a dark finish with earthy undertones. There’s a hint of bramble here, but everything is in perfect balance. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best enjoyed from 2024 to 2038.

Aromas of blueberries, salty plums, stone, walnut husks, cloves, and dried herbs. It is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Fresh, tight, and mineral-driven. Polished and refined with excellent length. Best enjoyed in 2025.

A 24-hectare estate (20 hectares of which are under production) on the northern slope of St-Émilion. Sandy-clay soils, as well as clay over Fronsac molasse. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in 70% new barrels and 30% one-year-old barrels. The bouquet is intensely aromatic, revealing notes of cocoa beans and blackcurrant. Elegant and perfectly balanced on the palate. The wine presents itself pleasantly and with great conviction. A beautiful harmony of subtlety, charm, and power. 2025–2040

Vert de Vin

About the wine:

The nose is elegant, refined, and sophisticated, offering concentration, power, a lovely finesse of texture, a certain delicate intensity, and a sense of integrity. It features notes of ripe, fleshy blackcurrant and blueberry, with a hint of juicy bilberry, combined with subtle hints of raspberry, Cuben pepper, and spices, along with a discreet touch of cinnamon and vanilla, as well as a subtle hint of paprika (in the background) and chocolate. The palate is fresh, delicate, and balanced, offering subtle power, integrity, a certain strength and power (yet fully controlled), a lingering quality, and lovely definition. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy blackcurrant, juicy/fresh Boysenberry, and more subtly, raspberry, combined with hints of pulpy blue berries, chocolate, tonka bean, and almond, along with subtle hints of fresh blond tobacco, a touch of clay-limestone freshness, and a subtle hint of bergamot. The tannins are precise and elegant, offering a touch of smoothness and savory depth. Good length. A subtle chewiness is present on the finish and in the aftertaste.
