"Acclaimed by the press, this is a magnificent organic estate that every fan of the Right Bank simply must know about!"

“What definition, freshness, and depth in the bouquet of the 2022 Grand Corbin-Despagne! Just like the winemaker, the wine is precise, focused on detail, and radiantly expressive; it speaks for itself and is clearly happy to be here. A beautiful blend of notes of cherries, licorice, and peony. On the palate, the wine stands out for its harmony and its ability to bridge the gap between freshness and vigor, between precision and fullness. A mouthwatering, thirst-quenching, inviting, and lingering wine. A great success and certainly one of François Despagne’s best wines—which in no way diminishes his previous offerings, as he has always produced excellent wines! Rated estate (2020 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Château Grand Corbin-Despagne is undoubtedly the best value for money in Saint-Émilion, with its 29 hectares situated on sandy soil. The owner, François Despagne, has worked tirelessly to achieve this result, with a commitment to organic farming that contributes to the wine’s success. This Saint-Émilion combines vigor, silkiness, aromatic distinction, and superb aging potential. A tasting ranging from 2016 to 1947 allowed us to perfectly capture the style of this wine, which possesses a finesse and harmony superior to many "modern-style" classified growths. As it ages, it can resemble a great Pomerol in several vintages.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About the estate:

In 2019, this great wine displays vitality and energy, reflecting the clay soils. It has great aging potential. With more focus on its structure, texture, hint of licorice, and peppery tannins, the 2018 is not quite fully developed yet but promises a bright future. The 2015, with its deep red color, develops a richness of bold, powerful tannins with a refined structure.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2025 guide) 96/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

The nose is fruity, fresh, precise, and well-defined, offering refined complexity, depth, and delicacy. It reveals notes of Boysenberry, lilac, and, more subtly, small blue berries...

Wine rated (2025 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

As soon as the wine is poured, aromas of mint, chocolate, espresso, flowers, and red stone fruits burst from the glass. Then, the palate takes center stage with notes of black cherries and perfectly ripe plums, with a silky texture. This is a hedonistic wine that combines freshness, elegance, and purity with a long finish. A blend of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Best enjoyed between 2027 and 2047.
