Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2024 guide) 90-91/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is distinct and fruity, with roasted and smoky notes coming through first (toast, bitter cocoa, coffee). It then reveals notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, white pepper, licorice, and a hint of vanilla in the background), combined with notes of juicy morello cherry, crushed strawberry, black plum, and red plum, with a touch of dried mint and iris in the background. The palate is warm, with a slightly tight attack due to the firm tannic structure. The flavors are precise, chocolatey, and fruity: notably, there are hints of morello cherry, blackberry, black plum, crushed blackcurrant, and red plum, combined with notes of bitter cocoa, coffee, toast, licorice, and nutmeg. The finish reveals firm, slightly grainy tannins, yet they are enveloped in concentrated fruit and a mouth-watering acidity. Good length with a pleasant bitterness and notes of black plum and chocolate.
