"James Suckling's Top 100 in 2021
"Intense, beautiful, unified and youthful dark red color. Intense, fine, fruity, pure and subtle nose. Creamy, slightly smoky touch. Meticulous on the entry, particularly aromatic in the middle, with a melting body, softness and class in the touch, the wine finishes long, a little discreet, but very distinguished, on a refined tannicity. A superb wine that is not overwhelmed by the alcoholic power of the year". (Jean-Marc Quarin 2022) - Delivered in wooden cases for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery).

Wine rated (2019 guide) 96/100
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)
About the wine:
Nose of milk caramel and black cherry, very characteristic of the vintage, with a very salivating peppery touch. The palate is marked by elegance and great freshness. After bottling, it could well join Saint-Emilion's top five.
About the domain :
Since the late 1990s and the arrival of Philippe Castéja at the helm, supported by the late oenologist Denis Dubourdie, this property, magnificently situated on the limestone plateau at the northeast exit of the village of Saint-Émilion, has seduced with its very assertive intensity, but also with its balance, finesse and freshness, offering the personality of a racy, long and slender Saint-Emilion, with all the chic of great Cabernet Franc from very old vines, often in the majority. A recent vertical tasting demonstrates once again that this is one of the great wines of the Right Bank.

About the domain :
One of the jewels in Borie-Manoux's crown. Legend has it that an old lady who used to live on the estate used to trot along the road to ask the stagecoach for news. Today managed by Philippe Castéja, this 12-hectare estate, located on the eastern slopes of the Saint-Émilion plateau, boasts an original grape variety, with equal proportions of Merlot and Cabernet.

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Always confirmed in its classic virtues, it is not lacking in stature, especially in this vintage where it has managed to reserve its freshness to build on the finesse of a fruit relaxed by a woodiness that harmonizes the ripe and soft ensemble with tannins full of gallantry. The limestone of the plateau has once again spoken through the rich, just texture of the vintage.
About the domain :
A traditional Saint-Emilion Premier Cru, Trotte Vieille occupies a superb hillside, a little apart from its peers, capable of producing fine, racy wines with great longevity. It boasts a rare capital of very old Cabernet Franc vines, with which the château produces an unmarketed microcuvée. Philippe Castéja undertook a clear turnaround in the early 2000s, drawing on the sound advice of the late Denis Dubourdieu. The wine is classic in style, expressing itself with a certain austerity in the primeur season, not opulence but freshness of grain and fruit. We awarded it its second star in 2015. Following the 2012 classification, the entire vineyard of Château Bergat (3.5 hectares) is now eligible to enter Trotte Vieille. For the moment, part of it is devoted to improving the second wine, La Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille.

About the wine:
A beautiful nose of sweet flowers, between blackcurrant blossom and wallflowers, which unfolds on a bewitching palate, extremely rich, sumptuous, enveloping like a lovely cocoon, with a dense, long mocha finish.

About the wine:
This wine reveals all its finesse. It has freshness, fruit and relevance, which it displays and enhances with precision. On the palate, the wine is compact, full-bodied and endowed with buoyant tannins. The tannins are tight, compact and in phase with the acidity. Breed, juice and temperament. Fruity finish. A great success.

Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing
Wine rated (2019 guide) 96-98/100
About the wine:
A nose of iris, blackcurrant buds and "al dente" black fruit, offering great delicacy and a racy, subtle bouquet. Juicy on the palate, with velvety, perfectly sapid tannins, beautiful aromas of fresh fruit and a refined chalky feel. A magnificent wine that will age long and gzrder its delicacy. Well done!
