Château Valandraud
Château Valandraud is the fruit of the hard work of a couple with a passion for wine, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud. After a successful career as négociants in Saint-Emilion, their ambition was to own their own vineyard and make their own wine. In 1989, they acquired a small 0.6-hectare plot in the Saint-Emilion valley between Pavie-Macquin and La Clotte. The origin of Château Valandraud's name is both geographical (Val: Fongaban valley) and sentimental (Andraud: Murielle's name).

Little by little, Jean-Luc Thunevin and his wife expanded the vineyard, which now covers a total area of 10 hectares, planted on very different soils and locations within the Saint-Emilion appellation. This diversity of soils and grape varieties enables the production of 6 different wines: Château Valandraud, Château Valandraud Casher, Virginie de Valandraud and le 3 de Valandraud, Blanc de Valandraud Nº 1 and Nº 2. Three cuvées are blended with the help of world-renowned oenologist Michel Rolland.

At Château Valandraud, everything is done in a way that is both traditional and modern: double Guyot pruning, de-stemming, lifting, leaf-thinning, green harvesting. The grapes are harvested by hand over just a few days, "in the family". The careful attention paid to the vinification and ageing of Château Valandraud wines guarantees Bordeaux connoisseurs one of the finest Saint-Emilion Grand Cru wines.
