Yon Saint-Martin is the second wine of Château Yon-Figeac, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion. Located next to Cheval Blanc, it boasts one of the largest vineyards in the appellation. This 2004 vintage has a beautiful, clear garnet-purple color. Its nose reveals aromas of black and red fruits with subtle peppery notes. On the palate, the wine is round, with ripe, supple tannins. A pleasant wine, ready to drink!

About the estate:
One of the largest estates in the appellation, covering 24 hectares surrounding a shaded park and an 18th-century château in the Figeac area, between Libourne and Saint-Émilion. A cru first mentioned in 1886 and classified since 1955. Industrialist Alain Château, its fifth owner, who took over in 2005, renovated the entire property—including the vineyard and buildings—and enlisted the services of Denis Dubourdieu.

I opened a bottle this weekend—it was excellent. The next one will be in a year or two.

Welcome gift from "1 Day, 1 Wine." At half price, it offers excellent value for the money—the wine is good, full-bodied, and well-balanced.

Disappointing for Yon-Figeac's second wine. It seems quite closed. I'll leave it in the cellar for a few years.
