"The brilliant Les Pagodes de Cos 2009 has more Cabernet Sauvignon in its blend than the grand vin, which is added to Merlot and a small amount of Petit Verdot. As powerful as the Cos in terms of alcohol content (14.5%), full-bodied, round and generous, Les Pagodes de Cos offers abundant aromas of crème de cassis and floral notes mingled with woody and spicy scents. Juicy, succulent and remarkably fresh and well-defined, it deserves special attention from consumers. It should be drunk within 15 to 20 years, and curiously, this second wine is superior to many vintages of Cos from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s! (Wine Advocate Feb. 2012 - Robert Parker)

Wine rated (2013 guide) 18/20 (Reference wine)
4-star rated estate (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About wine:
Very typical blueberry nose for the vintage, high alcohol content, very roasted flavor but more balanced than that of the grand vin, better integrated tannins. A great, original product, whose evolution we will follow with great curiosity.
About the estate:
The vat room, as spectacular in its own right as the château's pagodas, equipped with vat lifts that allow gravity to be used not only during vinification but also during aging, was used for the first time in 2008. It crowns the estate's considerable efforts to bring this wine to the highest possible level, with the ambition of rivaling the quality of the premier cru classés. The deep gravel soil generally makes it the most full-bodied of the Médoc wines, the most voluptuous in texture, while retaining a finesse and complexity characteristic of its proximity to Lafite. The latest vintages have gained even more in aromatic purity and sincerity of expression. A very aromatic and intense white Bordeaux is produced on the soils of La Goulée, a little further north, and bears the same name.

Wine rating (2012 guide) 17.5/20 (Outstanding)
About wine:
The second wine of Cos d'Estournel, this wine has magnificent aromatic precision: blackcurrant, cinnamon, wild berries, cedar. It heralds a palate of great purity with mellow, satiny tannins. The finish lingers with a subtle warmth.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
Businessman Michel Reybier, who acquired the estate in 2000, has invested heavily in providing Cos d'Estournel with everything it needs to produce the finest wine possible. The construction of one of the world's most advanced wine cellars, designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, is a prime example of this. Cos has always produced expressive wines with a rather exuberant style. In the early 2000s, it even veered into caricature at times, overshadowing the finesse that the terroir is capable of expressing. Things have now changed, and with its latest vintages, Cos has rediscovered an expression that once again appeals to us.
