Château Laffitte Carcasset Saint-Estèphe 2017 - Cru Bourgeois

Well-structured, as befits a Saint-Estèphe wine, it also offers lovely notes of ripe black fruit that are already quite pronounced. The blend, composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, is aged for 12 months in barrels, giving the wine a spicy, ripe character. Best enjoyed starting in 2023; this wine has good aging potential. — Roger Voss

The nose features blackberry aromas with notes of forest wood and wild red berries, along with a hint of herbaceous and leafy notes. On the palate, it offers a pleasant freshness thanks to the tannins and the tart, savory flavors of red berries. Ready to drink now or suitable for aging.

A taut, juicy, elegant, and smooth wine with a hint of zan, round and silky tannins, and a long finish. Best enjoyed between 2020 and 2035.

The nose is subtly concentrated and offers refined power, richness/intensity, and minerality. It reveals notes of raspberry and, more subtly, fleshy cherry, combined with hints of small berries, mild spices, a very subtle hint of pepper and nutmeg, and an imperceptible hint of vanilla. The palate is fruity, with a crisp acidity, precision, and tension. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy, fresh raspberry, juicy, fresh strawberry, and, to a lesser extent, violet, combined with subtle hints of juicy blackcurrant, as well as hints of nutmeg, sweet spices, and a very subtle hint of coffee and chocolate (in the background). Good length.
