Meyney Castle
Château Meyney is located in the heart of a single, contiguous vineyard spanning some 50 hectares within the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the Bordeaux region. Its 17th-century owners, the Feuillants, were responsible for the first vineyards planted at Meyney. The Cabernet Sauvignon draws on a perfectly drained terroir of siliceous gravel and, blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, produces a full-bodied, rich, and well-structured AOC Saint-Estèphe wine. As it matures, Château Meyney’s wine will develop the inimitable charm of the great Saint-Estèphe wines.

Across the 51 hectares of the Château Meyney estate, the vines—with an average age of 35 to 40 years—are divided among Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), Merlot (26%), Cabernet Franc (3%), and Petit Verdot (10%). In addition to the Garonne gravel that makes up the soil, Château Meyney’s vineyard has a unique feature: a 3-meter-thick vein of blue clay buried underground, which is also found at Pétrus.

A plan to optimize the entire vineyard, initiated when Château Meyney was acquired, is now being successfully implemented by Anne Le Naour, the estate’s Technical Director, with guidance from oenologist Denis Dubourdieu.
