Château Meyney
Château Meyney is located at the center of a 50-hectare single vineyard in the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the Bordeaux region. Its 17th-century owners, the Pères Feuillants, were responsible for the first plantings at Meyney. Cabernet Sauvignon draws from a perfectly drained terroir of siliceous gravel and, combined with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, produces a full-bodied, fleshy and well-structured AOC Saint-Estèphe wine. When mature, Château Meyney will develop the inimitable charm of the great Saint-Estèphe wines.
On the 51-hectare estate of Château Meyney, the vines, on average 35/40 years old, are divided between Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), Merlot (26%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (10%). In addition to the Garonne gravel, Château Meyney's vineyard has an original contribution: a 3-metre-thick vein of blue clay buried in the subsoil, also found at Pétrus.
A plan to optimize the entire vineyard, initiated when Château Meyney was purchased, is now being carried out by Anne Le Naour, the estate's Technical Director, assisted by oenologist Denis Dubourdieu.
