Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

The elm trees are gone, but the hamlet of Pez is still home to this lovely estate, acquired by Jean-Michel Cazes. The winemaking process is overseen by the team at Château Lynch-Bages, adding a touch of soul and, above all, a great deal of elegance to the wine. With a more meticulous and precise winemaking process than in the past, the wines have gained in refinement.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Once again, this vintage’s strength lies in its sensuality and the caressing quality of its tannins. A rich, indulgent wine with a full, round mid-palate and velvety tannins. Explosive fruitiness.

About the estate:

This charming estate owes its name to the beautiful elm trees that once graced its garden. Owned by the Cazes family (Lynch-Bages) since the 1930s, Ormes de Pez produces a wine that captivates wine lovers with its full-bodied, rich, and alluring bouquet. It is generally best enjoyed relatively young and has demonstrated consistent quality for over a decade, thanks to the work of a well-coordinated team. A great value.
