Château Ormes de Pez
Château Les Ormes de Pez traces its origins back to the 18th century. Located on the outskirts of the hamlet of Pez, north of the town of Saint-Estèphe near Bordeaux, the Château Les Ormes de Pez estate owes its name to a magnificent grove of tall elm trees that no longer exist and produces wines within the Saint-Estèphe appellation.
Acquired in 1940 by Jean-Charles Cazes, at the same time as Château Lynch-Bages, which he managed, the vineyard of Château Les Ormes de Pez now spans 37 hectares on Garonne gravel soil. The management of the Château Les Ormes de Pez vineyard and the winemaking techniques combine the best of tradition and modernity, as at Château Lynch-Bages—which the Cazes family still owns—to produce harmonious wines with a spicy and voluptuous character, authentic expressions of their appellation’s terroir. Very well-balanced, Château Les Ormes de Pez displays great aromatic complexity.
