Château Phélan Ségur
Château Phélan Ségur was founded in the early 19th century by Bernard Phelan, an Irish merchant based in Bordeaux. The estate takes its name in part from its owner, who acquired Clos de Garamey in Saint-Estèphe in 1805, and in part from the 1810 acquisition of Domaine Ségur de Cabanac, which completed the estate.
In 1985, Xavier Gardinier took over Château Phélan Ségur with the help of his three sons. After more than 30 years working on the estate, the Gardinier family handed over the reins to Philippe Van de Vyvere following an acquisition in January 2018.

The Château Phélan Ségur vineyard stretches across the eastern part of the Saint-Estèphe commune, covering 90 hectares of vines planted on a soil composed of pebbles and gravel coated with clayey sands resting on a limestone base. Harvested by hand, the wine is blended from 47% Merlot, 51% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet-Franc. At Château Phélan Ségur, the vines are cultivated using sustainable methods, and the grapes are sorted both in the vineyard and in the winery. After 14 to 18 months of ageing, the result is a wine of exceptional quality, recognized and appreciated by Bordeaux connoisseurs.

Since 1986, the Château Phélan Ségur estate has also been producing second wines in the same Saint-Estèphe appellation: Frank Phélan, as well as La Croix Bonis, made from selected plots planted mainly with Cabernet-Sauvignon.
